BIOL 120 Excerpts
  • Dr. Mountjoy is a spectacular professor! I have never loved biology more. Her powerpoints are effective and relay the information visually. We cover a lot of information, but her effective descriptions help me retain the information. She relays the relationships between all subjects and challenges us to use critical thinking. She is always clear in the objectives and ensures our work is purposeful. She is extremely personable and approachable. Dr.Mountjoy allows for work that is challenging, yet manageable and that always leaves me with a deep understanding. This course makes me feel prepared for future courses.
  • Mountjoy is a treat for BIOL 120. She not only is a great teacher of the subject but is also readily available for students and their needs, inside and outside of class. Her PowerPoints and explanations make things clear and easy to define. While the topics covered in the class are complicated and numerous, you can tell that she tries her best to ensure that every student can do their best in class, as well as understanding what should be expected from a student in the course. Overall, she makes succeeding in this course possible, even if you're not the fastest learner.
  • Dr. Mountjoy’s lecture was a great course to take my freshman year. You can tell that she actually cares about her students and her job. She makes sure we understand the material by having us do in class activities the day of lecture. She also greatly values student feedback about her and the class. The only downside is that she talks very fast, but overall is an amazing professor.
  • Dr. Mountjoy is an incredible instructor who is very passionate about biology. She is very friendly and explains things well in lecture. Her coursework in general challenges you to think but it is very possible to receive an A in the course. Her exams are slightly more difficult than the lecture lets on. Her office hours are VERY helpful and you will leave them having all of your questions answered. Overall, an AMAZING professor and woman.
  • The professor for this class is one of a kind, spectacular, and probably the best instructor Western has to offer! She is so helpful and wants her students to succeed. She has a passion for Biology and shares this enthusiasm everyday in the classroom. Even when I have struggled in this class she has always been there to help. Overall this course was one of the best I have taken so far, and I would not change a thing!
BIOL 121 Excerpts
  • My instructor did an AMAZING job of teaching the BIOL 121 course! I learned a lot and the learning environment was always very welcoming, yet reasonably challenging. My instructor made difficult topics interesting and was very enthusiastic and knowledge of the topics. She gave constructive feedback and made it a point to make sure her students understood the content being presented to them. It was such a joy to have this instructor. Natalie Mountjoy is a great professor! She makes lab fun and easy to understand. I always feel like I know what to do, and if I don't then I can always ask for her guidance and figure it out.
  • This has been one of my favorite classes this entire semester. The professor has done a great job of explaining every assignment, what we should be looking at, and what we should be finding. The professor always answers questions right away, and is always eager to help if the students have a problem.
  • I think Dr. Mountjoy is a phenomenal teacher. She will explain things in a couple of different ways for everyone to understand what is going on. She will help us individually and get right beside us
and show and explain whats going on if you're having trouble in lab. I really look forward to coming to her class every week. She is by far one of the best instructors that I have ever had.
BIOL 123 Excerpts
  • The instructor does well to insure that everyone has an understanding of what is to be done and completed in lab before students actually start anything. Instructor also does demonstrations over the difficult aspects of what is to be done in the lab. She trys to keep the labs as close to the content in the lectures as possible. The instructor also finds and supplies many resources to the students to help further their understanding and help to clarify any difficult topics. Instructor also constantly asks for feedback from her students.
  • Dr. Mountjoy was a great instructor. Instructions and expectations were clear and she was very quick to help us if we had any problems during the lab. She was always enthusiastic about the subject at hand as well.
  • Dr. Mountjoy is a wonderful lab instructor. Her enthusiasm and zeal for science and teaching remains unrivaled by most. The labs in which we completed aligned well with lecture and completed objectives detailed in the syllabus. Homework assignments reinforced and broadened lab activities and allowed me to explore career goals thoroughly.
